Clinic marketing ideas · Google Ads and Facebook ads for clinics · 2026
A new patient finds you in five steps. Search, Maps, reviews, a WhatsApp, then the visit. Win each step with plain facts, and the rules stay on your side.
Written for clinic owners. Every rule below comes from MOH's and MMC's own documents, read on 29 and 30 September 2026.
Read this before any tactic
| Keep off every advert and page | Rule |
|---|---|
| Patient testimonials about a treatment or a doctor's skill | MAB 4.5(ii) |
| Comparing your clinic with another | MAB 5.1 |
| Free treatment, or a gift | MAB 7.1.3, 7.2 |
| Claiming to be the best or the only one | MMC V2/2025 2.6 |
| Patient photos, full or in part, in a doctor's media posts | MMC Code 2019 4.2.2 |
| Promised results | MMC Code 2019, part 4, on illusory hopes of a cure |
Packages and discounts are allowed only inside an approved advert (MAB 7.1.1). Dental clinics are stricter: the MDC Code 2022 (1.8(c)) bars packages, discounts and promotions in every channel. Marketing for clinics, compared
Four need MAB approval first, when they name a treatment and invite people in. The rest work on plain facts.
| Channel | Cost | How fast | What it needs | The rule to watch |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Google Business Profile | Free | Up to a month for a new profile. Edits up to 3 days | The most specific category, hours, services, real photos of the clinic and team | Directory facts fit MAB 6.4: name, address, specialty, contact, hours. Ask the MAB before adding offers |
| Google reviews | Free | Builds month by month | One review link or QR code, asked of every patient in the same words | Google bans gifts for reviews and asking only happy patients. Keep treatment praise off your own pages (MAB 4.5) |
| A page per treatment, in English, BM and Chinese | Your time, or a writer | Weeks for Google to find | Plain answers: what it is, who it suits, the fee | Information with no push to book fits MAB 3.4.3. A booking button makes it an advert. MMC says website contents go to the Board (V2/2025 4.17.3) |
| Named in AI answers (ChatGPT, Google AI Mode) | Free to appear | Answers move day to day | The same name, address and phone everywhere, reviews, pages that answer questions | The AI reads your profile and pages, so their rules carry over |
| Referrals from GPs and partner clinics | Your time | Slow and steady | A referral letter, and a report back after every patient | Fee splitting and kickbacks for referrals are barred. The premise for referral must be quality of care(MMC Code 3.2.3) |
| Google Ads | You pay for each click, plus RM300 per MAB application | Same day, once approved | Approved ad copy, a budget, a landing page | An ad naming a treatment and inviting people in needs MAB approval first (Act s.4A) |
| Facebook and Instagram ads | Your ad budget, plus RM300 per MAB application | Days, once approved | Approved copy and a fast reply to every enquiry | Same test. MOH's register lists approvals for Internet. Influencers may introduce the premises only, with approval (MAB 4.6.2) |
| WhatsApp follow-up | Staff time | Same day | One number on every listing, and replies and reminders to people who wrote to you | A broadcast that names a treatment and invites people in is an advert (Act s.4A) |
| Health talks in your community | Your time | Weeks to arrange | A topic patients ask about, and a doctor to speak | Education with the doctor's name, field and place fits MAB 3.4.3. Leave the booking push out |
Marketing agency for clinics
The MMC Code bars a doctor from engaging any agent or canvasser to obtain patients (4.1 vii). So the agency sells work, and you pay for work. Ask these four questions.
| Ask the agency | The answer you want |
|---|---|
| How do you charge? | A fixed fee for the work. Never per patient, per lead or per booking |
| Who sends our adverts to the MAB? | A named person, before anything goes live, with the approval number kept on file |
| What will you write about us? | Plain facts: services, doctors' qualifications, hours, fees. Zero praise and zero comparisons |
| How will we know it worked? | A dated monthly record of calls, Maps views and who the AI names. Results are reported, never promised |
How to get more patients in your practice, step by step
Go through your site, posts and ads. Mark each one: no approval, needs approval, or banned. Use the rules table.
Pick the most specific true category. Fill in hours and services. Add 10 photos of the clinic, team and equipment.
Answer what patients ask: what it is, who it suits, the fee. Write it in English, BM and Chinese.
Put your review QR code at the counter. Ask every patient in the same words, and offer nothing for it.
Introduce your services to five GPs or partner clinics. After each referral, send a report back to the doctor.
Ask ChatGPT and Google for a clinic like yours in your town. Note who is named, dated. Planning ads? Send the copy to the MAB now.
ChatGPT's map cards show each clinic's Google stars and review count, read on 30 September 2026. So your reviews count twice: on Maps and in the AI answer. How to ask for reviews inside Google's rules.
Where we fit
We make your clinic's true facts correct and easy to find where Google and the AI read. Name, address, hours, services and doctors, the same everywhere.
Each month we ask ChatGPT, Google and other engines the questions your patients type. We write down who they name, dated, and make one fix to your listings or pages.
The fee is RM 1,200 a month, fixed. Never per patient or per booking. We take one clinic per trade per city. See it for aesthetic clinics, implant and aligner clinics, and dental clinics.
