Google reviews · Review link · QR code
How to get more Google reviews for your business
Ask every customer the same way, with one link or a QR code. Google allows that. It bans paying for reviews and asking only the happy ones.
Google's own words were read from its Help Center on 29 September 2026. Every other source is labelled.
Google Business Profile review link
Where is my Google review link and QR code?
Google makes both inside your Business Profile. You need a computer for the QR code.
| Step | On a computer |
|---|---|
| 1 | Open your Business Profile at business.google.com |
| 2 | Select Read reviews, then Get more reviews |
| 3 | Copy the link. For the QR code, right-click it and choose Save image as |
Google says review QR codes can only be made on a computer browser, not on a phone. Source: Create a Google link or QR code to request reviews, read 29 September 2026.
The method
How to get more Google reviews from customers
| Step | What Google says | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| The link | Share a Google link or a QR code | Use the same short link everywhere |
| The QR code | Print it for in-store displays | An A6 card at the counter, and the QR on receipts |
| When to ask | On receipts, in thank-you messages, at the end of a chat | Ask every customer, the same day, once |
| Where to send | Email, WhatsApp or Facebook | One WhatsApp, only to customers who gave their number |
| Reply | Keep it brief and personal, with no sales pitch | Reply to each review within a week |
The counter card, in three languages
| Language | Headline | Under the QR code |
|---|---|---|
| BM | Macam mana kami hari ini? | Imbas untuk tulis ulasan Google. Terima kasih! |
| EN | How did we do today? | Scan to leave a Google review. Thank you! |
| 中文 | 今天的服务怎么样? | 扫码在 Google 留下您的评价,谢谢! |
It asks everyone a question. A card that says “Happy with us?” invites only the satisfied, and Google bans that.
The WhatsApp message, sent once
If a customer asks you to stop, stop that day. PDPA section 43 gives them that right.
Google's review policy
What Google bans when you ask for reviews
| Never do this | Google's rule |
|---|---|
| Give a gift, discount, lucky draw or free service for a review | Incentives such as payment, discounts or free goods are fake engagement |
| Offer anything to change or remove a bad review | Incentives for revising or removing a negative review are banned |
| Ask only the customers who seemed happy | Businesses may not “selectively solicit positive reviews” |
| Send unhappy customers to a private form first | Businesses may not “discourage or prohibit negative reviews” |
| Make someone write it at the counter | No requiring or pressuring reviews “while on the premises” |
| Tell customers what to write, or how many stars | No requests for “specific content” |
| Give staff a review target or a bonus per review | Staff may not be asked for “a certain number of reviews” |
| Write reviews yourself, or ask staff and family to | Content not based on a real experience is fake engagement |
| Buy reviews from anyone | Reviews “paid for, directly or in kind” are fake engagement |
What Google allows: you may “solicit or encourage” genuine reviews, “without offering incentives”. Source: Maps user contributed content policy, read 29 September 2026.
Fast and free
How to get more Google reviews fast, and for free
The link and the QR code cost nothing. Both come from your own Business Profile.
There is no fast route inside the rules. Bought reviews break Google's policy, and Google can remove them.
Speed comes from asking every customer, every day. Google says more reviews and positive ratings can help your local ranking.
Want better reviews, not just more? Do the job well, then ask everyone. Never choose who gets asked.
Replies
How to reply to Google reviews
| Google's tip | In practice |
|---|---|
| Keep it brief | Two or three lines. People stop reading long replies |
| Make it meaningful | Use their name. Mention what they wrote, or answer their question |
| No sales pitch | No deals or promotions in a reply |
| Bad review: apologise and be honest | Say sorry once. Then move it to WhatsApp or a call |
| Protect privacy | Never share a reviewer's details in public |
To reply: open your Business Profile, select Read reviews, then Reply next to the review. Google says a reply can take up to 10 minutes to appear, sometimes up to 30 days.
Removing a review
Can I delete a Google review?
Google's help pages give owners one route: report the review. Google then decides.
| Step | What happens |
|---|---|
| 1 | In your Business Profile, select Read reviews, then the Report icon next to the review |
| 2 | Pick the reason, such as spam or profanity. Then select Send report |
| 3 | The status reads Decision pending while Google checks. It usually takes several days |
| 4 | No policy violation? You can appeal once |
| 5 | Escalated means your appeal is being reviewed. Check your email |
Google asks owners not to report a review “just because you disagree with it or dislike it”. A genuine bad review stays. Reply to it calmly, and never offer anything to have it removed.
Measure it
The numbers to watch every week
These are our own working targets, not Google's. Write them down every Monday.
| The number | Where to read it | A good sign |
|---|---|---|
| New reviews in the last 7 days | Your Business Profile | Some every week, never one big burst |
| Days since the newest review | Your Business Profile | 14 or fewer |
| WhatsApp messages sent, against customers served | Your own count | Close to every customer |
| Reviews with a reply | Your Business Profile | All of them |
Reviews are one part of prominence. The full plan to rank higher on Google Maps.
